Sure, I can tell you about this theater. You see, the building dates from the twenties, it was an old vaudeville house and had a pretty big stage, with a pit and everything. During the depression, they started showing movies there full time. When they multiplexed it in the 80's they ripped all that stuff out and put in 4 theaters. When Film Scouts took it over in the mid-90's, they renovated and expanded (now we've got 23 rooms) and they wanted to pay homage to the roots, so they put in a small stage in here, to be able to do live events. Sometimes we'll have music in here, or we can show movies too, just drop the screen back down. Or whatever...

Oh, how come Philip Glass? Well, that's funny you ask, because it came through me. The management is always asking us kids about what we think would be cool stuff to do here. So anyway, I live in the East Village. There's this coffee shop where I sometimes get breakfast, and there's this guy comes in, I see him pretty regular, so I finally went up to him and asked him if he was Philip Glass. It was him! So we started talking, I told him how much I admired his film music (Koyaanisqatsi, Mishima, Thin Blue Line, Candyman, etc.) and told him about this room and asked him if he'd be interested in doing something here. Well, he said he was real busy but that it would be OK if we played a little clip from something...
