Born in Oran, Algeria in 1946, Nicole Garcia splits her time both in front of and behind the camera.
As actress, she has worked with such heralded French filmmakers as Jacques Rivette and Alain Resnais and has written and directed several films of her own. Her films as director include "Un week-end sur deux" (Every Other Weekend -1990) and "Le Fils Prefere" (The Preferred Son - 1993). The most recent feature directed by Nicole Garcia, "Place Vendôme" (1998) features Catherine Deneuve in a performance that earned her the best actress award at the Venice Film Festival.
