The 35mm color film is the feature film directorial debut of Rebecca Miller, playwright Arthur Miller's daughter, and an actress whose credits include MRS. PARKER AND THE VICIOUS CIRCLE directed by Alan Rudolph, Alan Pakula's CONSENTING ADULTS, Mike Nichols' REGARDING HENRY and Paul Mazursky's THE PICKLE. Her theatrical credits include the New York and touring productions of renowned director Peter Brook's THE CHERRY ORCHARD.
The cast includes Anna Thomson (THE CROW, TRUE ROMANCE, UNFORGIVEN, BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY, TALK RADIO, BIRD, WALL STREET), Vincent Gallo (HOUSE OF SPIRITS), Ruth Maleczech (BALLAD OF LITTLE JO, IN THE SOUP), and Hynden Walch (GROUNDHOG DAY, THE FUGITIVE).
The Director of Photography is Ellen Kuras, whose work on Tom Kahn's SWOON (released by Fine Line Features) won the Sundance "Best Dramatic Feature Cinematography" award. She has won many awards for her documentary work, which includes work for the BBC, TBS, and UK Channel 4.
ANGELA was produced by Ron Kastner, whose producer credits include FEDERAL HILL (starring Nick Turturro), WHITE MAN'S BURDEN (directed by Gregory Hines). In theatre he has produced or co-produced Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA, PARTS I & II (which won the Tony Best Play Award two years in a row), Jon Robin Baitz's THREE HOTELS, David Mamet's OLEANNA, Arthur Miller's THE LAST YANKEE, Eric Bogosian's POUNDING NAILS IN THE FLOOR WITH MY FOREHEAD, and Ariel Dorfman's DEATH AND THE MAIDEN (starring Glenn Close, Richard Dreyfuss and Gene Hackman).
Line Producer Lemore Syvan's most recent film was Executive Producer Martin Scorsese's SEARCH AND DESTROY, to be released by October Films (directed by artist David Salle: starring Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Rosanna Arquette and Griffin Dunne) and premieres at Sundance this year. She has worked on numerous other films.
The film was shot in the summer of 1994 in upstate New York (Poughkeepsie and Catskill, Greene County) and wrapped August 27th.
