Kanzo sensei

Review, by David Sterritt

Winner of 2 Palmes d'Or (1983, 1997), Shohei Imamura returns with an antiheroic drama about a village doctor at the end of WWII, who unites a group of misfits to help him build a microscope large enough to discover the cause of hepatitis. A miniature with universal significance.
