The film stars Uma Thurman, Nick Nolte, Anjelica Huston, Kate Beckinsale, Jeremy Northam, James Fox and Madeline Potter. This is the third Henry James novel being brought to the screen by the Merchant-Ivory team ("The Europeans", "The Bostonians"). "The Golden Bowl" premieres in competition at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.
