Cannes, France May 12, 1996-- Film Scouts is pleased to announce its newest featured presentation, Film Scouts On The Riviera MBone Broadcast, a TV station on the Internet: Cannescast(tm) TV. Film Scouts will broadcasting every three hours over the MBone. The MBone is an experimental service on the Internet for distributing streaming video - true broadcasting over the Net. Taking the leading edge in technology, this effort is an experiment in utilizing the Internet as a global mass medium.
Presented with technical support from INRIA, a leading computer research center in Europe (The French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control, http://www.inria.fr/welcome-eng.html), and led by Philipp Hoschka (who is also Film Scouts' European Technical Director) and Film Scouts publisher, producer, and creator Mayra Langdon Riesman, this is an experiment in state-of-the-art use of the Internet in real-time. New ideas and technology will be on display daily.
Philipp Hoschka currently works at Tim Berners-Lee's WWW consortium. He
is responsible for standardizing the integration of audio and video into
the Web. He was born in Germany, and now lives in Antibes on the French
Riviera. Formerly, Philipp was a member of the networking research group
at INRIA. This group is one of the leading research groups world-wide in
the area of video and audio transmission over the Internet. Philipp holds
a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Nice and a Master's
Degree in Computer Science from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
