1996 Telluride Film Festival Diaries
Getting There

Okay, I admit it: I'm chicken. That's why I opted to fly into Colorado Springs and drive across southern Colorado to Telluride. Monarch Pass and Royal Gorge certainly deserve their majestic titles and make me wish I had opted for the rental car with the bigger engine. Five hours through some of the most breath-taking scenery that has graced this country is going to make watching movies difficult by comparison. But Fine Line, Columbia and Miramax are determined to make it easier for me. "Twelfth Night" , the most popular of Shakespeare's comedies has been adapted to the screen by Trevor Nunn and stars Helena Bonham Carter, Richard E. Grant, Nigel Hawthorne, and Ben Kingsley. That gives me something to look forward to! Word on "Fly Away Home" is to disregard the hokey commercials and just enjoy the movie. Oscar winner Anna Paquin is back from Down Under to charm us as she did in "The Piano". Jeff Daniels and Dana Delany will have to be at the top of their acting form to keep this talented youngster from stealing every scene.
